CYCLING SPIN GROUPS FOR ALL LEVEL OF CYCLING SKILLS

Find your tribe within the Club - We have 4 regular group spins - all starting from Columb Barracks Mullingar at 9am ( unless otherwise notified)

A GROUP - Fastest Group - approx 30kph + spins on Sundays covering distances between 90 and 120km plus shorter Wednesday spins during longer evenings. Wednesdays spins stop at end of August.

B GROUP - Approx 25 to 27kpg and distances of 70 to 100km on Sundays plus shorter Wednesday spins during longer evenings. Wednesdays spins stop at end of August.

C GROUP - 23-25kph and distances of 60 to 80k on Saturdays plus shorter Wednesday spins during longer evenings. Wednesdays spins stop at end of August.

D GROUP - 20 to 23kph and distances of 50 to 70km on Saturdays plus shorter Wednesday spins during longer evenings. Wednesdays spins stop at end of August.

We plan a tea/coffee break approx halfway through most spins, to ensure there is also a social element to our club groups. Speeds and distance may vary depending on weather conditions and time of the year. Variations to above times are updated on each Group Whatsapp. Group Leaders decide on routes for each spin.

MUDGUARDS are important in group spins - Mudguards protect you and your fellow cyclists from excessive spray as they ride directly behind you. For Autumn/ Winter/Spring please ensure you have full length mudguards that not alone protect your fellow cyclists but stop you getting a very wet "bottom"! Group leaders will keep you updated on times of the year when Mudguards must be used.

LIGHTS - both front and rear - will make other road users more aware of your presence. Whether your are cycling on your own or with a group - it is important - particularly when daylight is limited or overcast days - to ensure your lights keep you seen and safe.

Your membership of Lakeside Wheelers Cycling Club requires you to abide by our CODE OF CONDUCT

All participants in group spins are required to follow the instructions and guidance of group leaders and to watch out for each others safety and well being on each spin.

Cycling Sportives

Cycling Ireland host a range of Cycling Sportives all round Ireland throughout the year and club members can choose to take part in these on their own or in smaller club groups. Its a great day out ( and sometimes an overnight stay as a bonus).

Details of Sportives appear on the Cycling Ireland Website

Competition Cycling

Some members compete in cycling races including Midlands League and national cycling races and others just enjoy the faster pace of approx 30kph + and 100k plus weekly cycles and shorter spins on Wednesdays during the summer.

Up to date details of competitive events throughout the year can be found on Cycling Ireland Website

Great club for cyclists of all levels! Social rides and sportives keep me motivated and engaged.
