Celebrating 50 years of Cycling
2026 is a very special year for Cycling in Mullingar as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our cycling Club in Mullingar. A big club 50th Anniversary spin took place on 18 and 19 April with over 60 cyclists cycling to Athlone and back in the new club gear.

Join our vibrant cycling community in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. We very much welcome new members and those who have taken a break from cycling for many logical reasons. We cater to all ages, gender and skill levels, catering for all cycling enthusiasts from leisure spins to competitive cycling. Our activities include regular weekly social spins, for a range of different fitness levels. Our club members participate in many cycling events around the country including sportives, road cycling competition and cyclecross. Our club facilitates friends coming together regularly to enjoy bike rides and coffee breaks together.
As an active club we host and run cycling events during the year from Sprocket Rockets ( Summer Cycling for 4 to 12 year olds) , Women in Cycling - 5 Tuesday in a row getting ladies from 0 to 50km and learning cycling skills, Our Own Club Sportive, National Cycle Cross event in Belvedere House, National Time Trial Events, as well as the Mullingar Grand Prix National Road Cycle competition - to name but some of our activities. Our regular weekend spins continue throughout the winter and we also run weekly turbo sessions in winter.
If you are looking for good fun, to get fit, to make friends, enjoy beautiful scenery then come along and join Lakeside Wheelers where we bring together cyclists of all ages gender and discipline. We would love to hear from you whether you are new to cycling or new to the area or just thinking about getting out a bit more on the bike. Lakeside Wheelers Cycling Club is affiliated with Cycling Ireland and throughout the year club members from our different groups organise to take part in one day Sportives around the country. These are great social outings and a chance for friends to challenge themselves by taking partin in well organised non competitive spins all over Ireland. Great friendships are formed in our club and in 2025 two groups are undertaking international leisure trips - One group is cycling the west coast of Portugal and another will enjoy a self guided cycling adventure in France. Other club members have regular trips to do their own training camps in Spain and take on some of the challenging parts of Tour de France and Tour de Italia.
